Waaay up in the Andes in Peru’s Cusco region, near where you trekkers & sightseers may have taken on the Inca ruins Machu Picchu, some of the sweetest coffee in all of South America is produced. Small cooperatives at incredible altitudes work autonomously or share equipment, plant nurseries, transport & pool for bargaining power. Most are also members of larger coops which can buy their coffee in lieu of a direct buyer or provide other services. From this well-supported network comes the warmtoned, plush-textured Rio Mapacho. Think a sort of coffee version of a cosy blanket, like you’d want up in the Andes…

ROASTER NOTE:

Rio Mapacho shone on the cupping table, warm, creamy and sweet. With focused workshopping of different roasting approaches, and extraction trials, we have developed this mild-mannered coffee to articulate a perfectly balanced espresso. Malic acidity is subtle, yet maintains an elegant backdrop at our roast level.

We’re loving this as espresso, but if it floats your boat as filter, great!
