Sludge Cup by Malcolm Greenwood

Crafted from 100% waste materials
300mls/10oz. Dishwasher safe.
Each handmade cup is unique.
Classic design by Malcolm Greenwood.

Like the bin chickens of cups, the sea mussels of ceramics, these ever-changing fully circular Sludge Cups help eat up the scraps of hospitality commissions and home ceramics. The cup body is upcycled from porcelain and stoneware clay scrapings, plus sludge from the clay trap under Malcolm’s wash up sink. The cups are finished with ‘Mystery Glaze’, made from glaze test remnants and overspray from the spray booth (Malcolm stores it in a bucket for our Sludgies). Cool hey? Cheers for supporting this circular waste and carbon reduction initiative. No Death To Coffee!

Expect variation in colour, and the shape of each glaze depending on the placement of Malcolm's fingers.

L’IL ABOUT MALCOLM GREENWOOD

Malcolm is one of Australia’s most renowned ceramicists. He’s been hand-throwing since the seventies and craft oozes from his clay-clad fingers. Malcolm’s objective is to ‘produce pieces which are simple but strong in shape, decoration and colour, as well as having some ‘freedom’. Since 2010, we’ve enjoyed innovating with Malcolm, creating bespoke espresso cups for our Surry Hills café, through to, more recently, Sludge Cups.
